Our Fight
Modern media, in all its forms, has become increasingly polarizing and extreme in recent years. The pressure to generate clicks, impressions, and revenue has led to a focus on sensationalism and hyperbole, rather than nuanced and balanced reporting, dialogue, and discussion. This has contributed to the oversimplification of complex issues and the demonization of those who hold opposing viewpoints. Demonization that creates vast echo chambers, where individuals are exposed to a narrow range of unchallenged perspectives all fitting one narrative. Inter sese pugnantia.
Our Coin
Middle Lane explores a narrative that intercedes both sides of the coin because it seems recently that we have forgotten a coin is in fact 3 dimensional. This narrative explores the grey area of all things where nothing is absolute, and accepts that all things are transforming, that nothing is perfect, perspectives come from many origins, that anecdotal experiences may go against statistics, and aims to drive discussion that is constructive. This narrative will not placate, pander, or puppeteer; it will simply mix together the pallets of black and white and reopen the grey center of our perspective Venn diagrams.
Our Boundaries
Middle Lane will cover topics related to politics, global issues, economics, current and historical events, and whatever else lies in the polarizing informational battlefield of post-industrial society. Statistics, anecdotes, opinions, and news from all sides will be included to complete the puzzle of what is real and what is noise. We will find the strong signal amongst all the noise and beat against the rising tide of unjust animosity. Everyone is part of the Middle Lane in some sense and this dialogue will expose that lane in all of us.
